This is the second post in a series on finding the perfect holiday gifts for everyone you love this season. You can read the first post on lighting gifts for your favorite wrench wielding, solder-for-fun handyperson right here.
If you know someone who loves to cook, whether she got her skills from culinary school or the Food Network, whether he lives with you or just nearby, you get to reap the benefits year-round. So, you’re probably looking for a way to thank them this season. Maybe you’ve exhausted gifts like fancy knives and aprons. Perhaps you’re at a loss.
Why not gift them with light this season? There are tons of different easy to install (and easy to love) lighting options that will augment and expedite the cooking process, while enhancing the atmosphere.
Here are a few ideas:
1. Under Cabinet Lighting. This gift might not be for everyone, because it requires a bit of planning and coordination with the décor. However, if you’ve got a chef right in the family, it might be fun to surprise them with the kitchen of their dreams this holiday. You can install many of our under cabinet light fixtures in just a few simple steps.
2. Motion Sensing Lights. If you’d rather give something a little less involved, but still highly functional, try battery operated motion sensor under cabinet lights. These lights are easy to install with screws or tape, and they illuminate an area of 10 square feet! They detect motion from up to 5 feet away, so your culinary artist won’t have to worry about turning them on while wrist-deep in a holiday turkey.
3. Battery Operated Puck Lights. When pantries are dark and cabinets are shadowy, it can be hard for anyone to function in the kitchen. So, why not stuff your loved one’s stocking with some battery operated puck lights? They’ll provide bright pops of light where you need them most – in cupboards, closets, drawers, shelving, even to light counters and bars. Perfect for accent lighting, task lighting, and just to stay organized.
4. Barbecue Lights. If your favorite cook is more of an outdoor specialist (i.e. can’t stay away from the grill) they’d probably love to get a high quality barbecue light. Outdoor cooking can be especially challenging, because it’s harder to cook food when the sun goes down. But, with a super bright xenon or halogen barbecue light, you can cook out day and night if you really want to.
