Have you seen Philips’ series of lighting makeovers? They’re all on YouTube, showing how LED lights can positively change the lives of people around the world. Seriously, LEDs can solve so many common lighting problems, it’s almost unbelievable! I’ve picked out my three favorites to share with you, featuring three unique problems and their ingenious LED solutions, but you can view all 20+ here.

This first LED makeover takes place in Amsterdam. A couple has been trying to sell their flat for over a year, and they haven’t gotten anyone to bite…

With inadequate lighting, real estate agents complain about low ceilings and a gloomy atmosphere. After the lighting makeover, the agents focus on the unique architectural features, the bright kitchen, and the cozy mood. And when post-lightover they price the flat at 40,000 euros more, it really makes you marvel at the power of LEDs!

We travel to Singapore for the second “lightover.” Sophia is a young girl who loves pink, and is afraid of the dark. She can’t sleep by herself in her own bedroom…

New pink LEDs let her express herself and customize her room, while also making her feel safe enough to sleep through the night on her own.

Our final “lightover” brings us to Delhi, where a stay at home wife and mother is suffering from some severely inadequate lighting. Since the space is east-facing, sun pours into the windows and makes the place feel like an oven. She must keep the blinds closed, and the lack of natural light throws off her internal clock…

The new LEDs make the whole space feel lighter and cheerier. The lighting designer even used LED directional lights and LED strips to accent some beautiful features in the room that were previously ensconced in shadow – like the textured wall. The best part is, LEDs are so efficient and long-lasting, the family can keep them on all day. And since they generate so little heat, the mother won’t spend her days in a sweatbox!

Have any of you ever solved a majorly dysfunctional issue with new lights? Anyone currently have a lighting problem in your home or business? Who likes the cheeky narrator from video #1?
